Beyond Good & Evil (PC)

June 9th, 2006

The severly under rated game that most people think is bad because of its picture system. In reality this game is a really fun platformer and the camera is not a main concern (though it is good for money and most missions require pictures. You also gain a good number of perals through enough unique pictures of things). I got this game around the same time as Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Click here to continue reading »

Knuckles’ Chaotix Review (32X)

June 5th, 2006

This game was sort of an oddity for me for a long time. When I first downloaded the ROM to evaluate the 32X (before purchase, of course — I now own both a 32X and this game), there was something about it that drew me to it. Click here to continue reading »

Sonic the Hedgehog Review (GEN)

June 5th, 2006

Finally, something that isn’t Mario! Or Pitfall Harry…! SEGA fanatics, be warned!

When I got my Genesis back in ‘93…or…wait, when was that? ‘94? ‘96…? Well, whatever; when I got my Genesis (a Genesis 2), it came packaged not with Altered Beast or Sonic the Hedgehog, but Sonic 2. For the longest time, that was basically the only good game I had on the system, and I largely ignored the Genesis as a result, living out the 16-bit days on my SNES. Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (PC)

Lichan’s Review (Mrono will do his someday…)

This review makes me want to write a Beyond Good and Evil review so I think I’ll make that my next project.

I remember when I read about this game in previews I thought it was going to be a cheaply easy game where you could undo your deaths and mistakes easily and infinately. Thankfully I was wrong. Instead you have a game where you have some limited control of time that uses up sand tanks along with a couple of other moves that use energy tanks. It is a decent game but I must say I was disapointed with it especialy compared to Beyond Good and Evil which didn’t get the popularity that this game stole from it. In all honesty I don’t see why this game became all that popular. Controlling time is Click here to continue reading »

Super Mario World Review (SNES)

June 4th, 2006

So, how many of you think I’m not a fanboy? Yep, nobody, as I thought…I’m actually going down my list of systems, down the stacks of games for each system, so soon we should get into some of the more unheard of/less Nintendo stuff.

Remember that bygone era when games actually came packaged in with your system? Super Mario World was one of the games that came with my brand new SNES around 1995, along with Super Mario Kart. Man, they really did get cheap…back then, even at launch you were at least guaranteed a copy of Super Mario World, and later on you got two full games with your brand new system! Now, they’re hard-pressed to even include one, even after the system is several years old… Click here to continue reading »

Pitfall! Review (2600)

June 4th, 2006

Here it is, finally! Took me a couple of hours of soul-searching to get this one down, and I’m still not sure if I’m satisfied with it…

Pitfall is an old game. A really, really old game. If there’s one thing I have trouble with, it’s comparing old games to newer games. I mean, on one hand, you do have to consider the system’s limitations, but should that effect how a game is rated compared to something on a much more sophisticated platform? Super Mario 64 Review (N64)

April 12th, 2006

And next after this is the classic Pitfall for the 2600. Crap, that’s a hard review to write. Give it some time…

Kulor’s Review:

I am a fan of the obscure. Being such, I’ve noticed I have a tendency to be able to look at popular games in a much more critical light. Most I end up hating, and for good reasons. Then, somebody comes up and starts yapping about how awesome it is, and I beat them down to a bloody pulp until they’re left crying and hiding in the corner with their bruised and broken defenses, still claiming, “but…it’s still a good game…!” Click here to continue reading »

Mario Bros. Review (NES)

April 12th, 2006

Looky looky, it’s my very first review! Dumbed down a bit, unfortunately; no pics and no music examples. Bah, look ‘em up yourself.

I am a fan of the obscure. If you’ve never played it, much less heard about it, I’ve probably had an obsession over it at some point in time. I don’t know why I work this way, I’ve never been too bothered to figure it out much. That’s why starting my review here is just about the worst place to start it. Click here to continue reading »
